We Started Here: Dominique

Our next generation of social leaders are rising up today. We know they are among the most unique in history due to a niche set by the explosion of social media and the Information Age.

Today’s youth are multi-layered: vocal, with social media as a soapbox; headstrong, with a taste for adventures & trying new things; and fashionable, using fashion as a way to stand out and a symbol of who they are.

Dominique is a dynamic young professional, with roots in Elmont, and branches & fruits as far-reaching as Atlanta-Georgia. In our interview the 24 year-old fashion pioneer shared her views on Elmont and her latest enterprise, M’PIRE Clothing, an online boutique founded in June of 2014.

When asked her thoughts on the current election season, Dominique expressed, “A lot of young people I know want change and are very affected by politics directly. Whether that’s in the health care debate, student loan stress, joining the army or finding a job after college.”

The Excelsior is pleased to feature our full interview with Dominique, of M’PIRE Clothing. Enjoy!

What are your career goals?

My career goals are to have my current M’PIRE online boutique grow to a brick and mortar store in cities all over.

Currently the store specializes in mens clothing. I want men who already have great characteristics that exude Masculinity, a Presidential aura, an Immaculate style, Rich taste and an Elite status to be able to afford great styles that help them look the part to live lives that lead them to run an M’PIRE. Eventually, I would love to expand the store to include items for our M’Pire women and children out there as well.

What are your personal goals?

My personal goals are to eventually be a successful mother and wife, to be financially stable, and be stress free, in great health, living a long life with my loved ones.

How would you describe your work ethic?

I have a strong work ethic, always trying to do more and be better. Constantly setting a goal for my life that I have to achieve. I get this work ethic from my parents, they are my motivation and I have admired their journey through life.

What do you believe sets Elmont apart from any other community?

Elmont is set apart from other communities because it constantly tries to bring the community together. It is a close town where you are guaranteed to recognize a face, where stores and store owners have been around for a while and where you feel safe walking down the street.

MPIRE 6

What do you wish there was more of in Elmont?

Elmont has many great facets but one suggestion is enforcing parking rules in certain areas. To help with safety and accidents, less street parking or corner parking could be a great help to everyone.

MPIRE 2

If you could in one sentence, how would you describe Elmont?

A community that cares about its kids and adults.

The best advice you’ve ever gotten:

In the end it will be okay, if it’s not okay then it’s not the end. Life goes on.

Thanks to this taste-maker for a super cool interview. Keep your eyes peeled for Dominique & for M’PIRE Clothing — hopefully finding its way to a neighborhood near you!
